A Step-by-Step Guide to Embracing a Plant-Based Diet

Many of my clients come to me because they are considering a plant-based diet. Sometimes they’ve watched a popular documentary like What the Health or Game Changers. Sometimes they’ve had a personal health scare or are concerned about their personal environmental impact. Whatever the reason, moving towards a plant-based diet has gained a lot of traction, and for good reason. And I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing.

You can adopt a plant-based diet and still eat sushi or steak from time to time, and still get the benefits!

Done right, a plant-based diet has the potential to reverse many chronic diseases. Diseases like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, autoimmune conditions, and even certain types of cancer. Many elite athletes (and weekend warriors alike) are choosing a plant-based diet because it gives them a competitive edge, faster recovery, and more endurance.

There are SO many reason to move towards a plant-based diet.

  • Improved heart heat
  • Easy weight loss and maintenance
  • Reduced risk of chronic disease
  • Environmental sustainability

But my all-time favorite is……

  • Better Digestion and Gut Health

A plant-based diet is high in fiber, which I know is NOT as SEXY as the all-mighty PROTEIN but it is essential for gut microbe diversity. It feeds your good bugs, which helps proliferate more of the beneficial gut bacteria. prevents constipation (yes please!) and can even help stop chronic diarrhea.

When your gut microbes are fed and happy they have far-reaching benefits to every single system in your body – brain, mood, sleep, metabolism, skin, liver, lungs, hormones, energy. You name it!
